Microsoft Operating System June 2010

After the completion of our Woldwide Antivirus Market Share Report OPSWAT collected data in June 2010 which shows the operating system distribution for Microsoft Windows.

Looking closer, we can see that, in spite of having only been out a short time, Windows 7 installations have rapidly overtaken Windows Vista existing installations.

Comparing this to the data from the March sample in the AV report, we see Windows XP holding within a 1% variation, however the separation between Vista and 7 has grown to the point where we can say with some assurance that Windows 7 now outnumbers Vista for endpoint deployments.

We can take from this an assessment that Vista never caught on as a viable

replacement for XP. However, the quick adoption of Windows 7 likely indicates that consumers regard this as the best platform for the future.
